My name is Alexis Mitchell and my purpose is to serve my community and society in the area of animal welfare to help foster this sense of compassion; my goal is to use my skills as a licensed veterinary technician (LVT) to contribute to animal welfare.

I have been working in the fields of animal health and welfare for ten years. My roles have ranged from providing loving care to shelter animals to animal emergency preparedness and response during Katrina to working at the National Zoo and to offering a blend of restorative yoga and animal therapy.

I graduated from the veterinary technology program at Northern Virginia Community College in May, 2012. Since then, I have  worked as an LVT at various animal hospitals, developing my skills from both general and specialized practices.

What better way to achieve my purpose than to offer my services to those who have commited themselves to caring for animals with special needs. As the owner of a special needs pet, I know how challenging each day can be. As an LVT, I can make it easier for you to attend to the unexpected issues that arise each day or to take the vacation that keeps getting postponed. You can put your mind at ease knowing that your pet is in capable, loving hands.

Whether your furry family member is in renal failure or is in need of some extra attention due to old age or to unique behavioral traits, I'm here to welcome them with caring arms.

"While Alexis' technical skills and medical competence are beyond compare, it's her compassion and appreciation of the human-animal bond that make her an exceptional care giver. She treats every patient as if it were her own pet, and I can't imagine feeling more reassured leaving my beloved animal in her care."
